About

I know choosing a therapist can be difficult. I like to provide an atmosphere that is collaborative, nurturing, and focused on helping you achieve your goals. My approach generally involves helping people better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behavior as they move toward change and solve their problems while doing so with compassion and kindness. I do this using therapeutic techniques that are evidenced-based which means these methods have consistently been shown effective through research.

I generally work with adults and adolescents as young as 14 years old. I enjoy working with a variety of people and concerns including anxiety, depression, or relationship problems. I have particular experience working with people in the LGBTQ+ community, along with people diagnosed with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Substance Use Disorders. I’m often told that I am relaxed, yet professional. I make every effort to balance kindness with a focus on helping you make the changes you’re seeking. This balance results in people feeling understood while meeting their goals.

I’m a licensed psychologist in the state of Minnesota. I earned my doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and have been practicing psychotherapy full time for over 17 years. I have intensive training and many years of experience in every type of therapy I provide. I also make it a priority to stay connected to the most current knowledge and research within my areas of practice. I’m also part of an national psychological practice compact called PsyPact which allows me to practice via televideo sessions with clients located in the following states: AL, AZ, AR, CO, DE, Wash DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MN, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, RI, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WV, and WI. I very much enjoy working with people elsewhere in the country who might not otherwise have access to some of the services I provide.

When I am not in the office, I’m very likely spending time with family or friends. I enjoy cooking (and eating) good food, listening to electronic/dance music, and watching TV. Someday soon I hope to fulfill a longtime wish and adopt a dog (or two).
